Follow in the footsteps of your ancestors and experience the remarkable technology of Neolithic peoples. Stone daggers were sophisticated, prestige objects particularly made in the late Neolithic period of Europe (around 2400–1800 BC). They were not everyday tools but ceremonial or status symbols, crafted with advanced techniques. This reproduction is made with the same traditional prehistoric skills and locally sourced materials, as they would have done. It features a natural shed red deer antler handle and synthetic animal sinew wrapping, coming to a total length of ~ 6".
Blades were often fixed into a carved slot or socket within the antler,
secured using pine pitch resin and bound with sinew. A small hafted
bifacial stone dagger was carried by Ötzi the Iceman, who died while
crossing the Alps in ca. 5230 BP. Stone tools with preserved in antler
handles are frequently found in submerged Neolithic ‘Lake Dweller’
villages, where organics are preserved in anaerobic environments.
Serving multiple purposes in daily prehistoric life, such as cutting,
carving wood or hunting and sometimes indicated social status,
serving as symbols of power or crafting ability.
